SEN Teacher – Wolverhampton

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other professionals to create a supportive, structured, and inclusive learning environment. Your focus will be on adapting teaching around each pupil’s strengths, learning needs, and EHCP outcomes, ensuring meaningful progress for all.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with a range of needs including Autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, and learning disabilities
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual starting points and needs
  • Support pupils to achieve their personal EHCP targets
  • Create a calm, inclusive classroom atmosphere
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress
  • Promote pupils’ communication, confidence, and independence
  • Work effectively with other education professionals and families
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare

 

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • At least 6 months’ UK classroom teaching experience needed
  • Previous SEND experience highly desirable
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, sensory needs, or communication difficulties would be beneficial
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning outcomes
  • Ability to adapt teaching for a wide range of needs
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Ability to provide suitable references covering your most recent 24 months

 

Location and Package

  • Based in Wolverhampton
  • Temporary contract, starting October 2026
  • Flexible hours available
